Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

A Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to All
As we sit down for a Canadian Thanksgiving with our families, let us give thanks for what we have.
Working with our clients, we've learned how much we truly have to be grateful for.  We asked our staff to list what they would give thanks for Thanksgiving 2019 and here's the list we came up with in no particular order:

We're grateful that we have:
1. our families and friends,
2. relatively cheap and plentiful food,
3. manageable rates of inflation,
4. reliable power,
5. showers when we want,
6. access to medical treatment and medicine,
7. plenty of clean water and air,
8. the freedom to love,
9. the freedom to vote in an unrigged election (so don't forget to vote by October 21, 2019),
10. the freedom to pray to whom we want, or not,
11. the freedom to assemble,
12. the freedom to speak and incite goodness not hatred,
13. the freedom to work,
14. the freedom to study,
15. no constant threat of war or being blown up in our backyards,
16. a transparent justice system with checks and balances,
17. a system that holds our leaders accountable,
18. a police force that serves and protects us and is held accountable when it doesn't,
19. an education system that is open and based on arts, literature, science, and math, not on ideology or forced re-education,
20. an environment where we're not under constant attack or threat.

There's so much more that we're all grateful for, here in Canada.  So let us give thanks this Thanksgiving and enjoy our:
• traditional turkey dinner with cranberry sauce, stuffing, and pumpkin pie;
• biryani with paneer/chicken tikka masala, and rasmalai;
• rellenong, lumpia, pandesal, pancit, kare-kare, and flan;
• peking duck, hot pot, jelly fish, and sesame dumplings;
• bigos, kiełbasa kapust, pierogi, gołąbki szarlotka, babka, placek, and sernik;
• ham, chicken mole, tamales, champurrado, empanadas, tres leches cake;
and the many more delicious dishes that we bring to the table.

Don't forget to think of what we can do to help others who don't have what we have and then do our best to follow through.

Happy (Canadian) Thanksgiving from your friends at A-Canada!

Happy 152nd birthday Canada!

#Birthdays are all about celebrating our existence.  They're about our beginning and the joy of life.  They're also a time to reflect and give thanks.

So whether you've lived in Canada your whole life, are experiencing Canada Day for the first time, or considering coming to Canada at living in Canada, here's are important reasons why we should all celebrate Canada Day today:
  1. It's a great time to throw a party on July 1st with friends and family.  It's a known fact that the best weather in Canada in every province and territory is July 1.
  2. Canadians live in the #1 country in the world
  3. Canadian have plenty of clean water to drink and air to breathe
  4. Canadians have access to a generous social security network
  5. Canadians experience 'free' world-class health care
  6. Canadians have the best food in the world - our cuisine comes from all corners of the world and you'll see it in the Canada Day celebrations that are happening all across the country today.

On a more serious note we're grateful that:

We can celebrate our rights and freedoms:
  • freedom of conscience and religion,
  • freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression,
  • freedom of peaceful assembly,
  • freedom of association;

We have legal rights such as life, liberty, and personal security, e.g.
  • equality rights for all with equal protection and benefit of law
  • the right to be secure against unreasonable search or seizure
  • the guarantee of a democratically elected government that consults the voters and stands for re-election every 5 years or less.
  • the right not to be arbitrarily detained or imprisoned
  • the right to be tried within a reasonable time, to be presumed innocent until proven guilty according to law in a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal
  • the right to not be denied reasonable bail without just cause;
and many other freedoms and rights in a multicultural society that people in other countries can only dream of.

Oh Canada, our home and native land, the true north strong and free, from far and wide we all wish you a Happy 152nd Birthday!

Thank you, Canada!  Here's to many more birthdays to come.
